Your Wallet

Wallet security & backup

GrandmaStake is non-custodial — your private key is yours alone. This section covers how to keep it safe and what to do if you ever need to access it directly.

This section applies to managed wallet users(email + passphrase sign-up). If you connected an external wallet (Phantom, Solflare, etc.), your keys are managed by that wallet’s own backup system.

Recovery phrase

Your recovery phrase is a sequence of 12 words that can regenerate your wallet from scratch — including your private key. It is shown to you exactly once, during account creation. GrandmaStake does not store it.

If you lose your passphrase and need to restore your wallet, the recovery phrase is the only way to do it. If you lose both, your funds are permanently inaccessible. No one can help you recover them — not GrandmaStake, not Solana, not anyone.

How to store your recovery phrase

  • Do: Write all 12 words on paper with a pen, in order.
  • Do: Store the paper somewhere physically secure — a safe, locked drawer, or safety deposit box.
  • Do: Consider making a second physical copy stored in a different location.
  • Don’t: Photograph or screenshot it.
  • Don’t: Type it into any app, email, or note-taking tool.
  • Don’t: Save it in a password manager or cloud storage.
  • Don’t: Share it with anyone — GrandmaStake will never ask for it.

If someone else has your recovery phrase, they have full access to your wallet and can transfer all your SOL. Solana transactions are irreversible.

Passphrase security

Your passphrase is required to authorize every transaction from a managed wallet. It is the key that unlocks your private key for signing — it is never stored on GrandmaStake’s servers and never transmitted in a way that anyone else can intercept.

If someone enters the wrong passphrase repeatedly

After several incorrect attempts, your account enters a temporary lockout. After repeated lockouts, email verification is required before you can try again. This protects your wallet from brute-force guessing attacks.

If you forget your passphrase

Your passphrase cannot be recovered or reset — it is not stored anywhere. To regain access to your wallet, you must use your recovery phrase to import your wallet into GrandmaStake or into any compatible Solana wallet (Phantom, Solflare, etc.).

Tips for a good passphrase:Use something only you would know. Avoid birthdays, sequential words, and obvious phrases. Don’t reuse passphrases from other services.

Exporting your private key

You can export your private key or recovery phrase from the Settings section of your dashboard. This lets you import your wallet into Phantom, Solflare, or any other Solana-compatible wallet — zero lock-in.

  1. Open your dashboard and go to Settings.
  2. Select Export Wallet.
  3. Enter your passphrase to authorize the export.
  4. Your recovery phrase or private key is displayed. Note it down immediately and close the screen.

Key export is rate-limited to protect against unauthorized access. If you exceed the limit, wait 24 hours before trying again. Treat your exported key with the same care as your recovery phrase — anyone who has it controls your wallet.
